Project Description: 

Day One: Pre-Assessment

Part One of this lesson will be focused on getting to know our students and assessing their understanding of personality traits, abstraction, and color through the creation of Personality Pumpkins based on The Legend of Spookely the Pumpkin.

Essential Understanding

  • Students will understand their identities within their culture.

  • Students will understand how collaboration and communication connect them to their culture and identity.

  • Students will understand how to work together to reflect on their individuality within their cultures.

Objectives

Day One

  • Using an anchor text, students will be able to observe how identity can be portrayed in art and literature with a variety of lines, colors, and shapes.

  • Using preliminary sketches, students will be able to create an image using color and symbols to represent their identity.

  • Given 2D materials, students will be able to employ the appropriate use of line, color, and symbols in their identity drawings.

  • Using completed artwork, students will be able to talk about their artwork by describing how and why their artwork was developed as a group.
